College Counsel for the Poor – WSJ.
I suggest this excellent article. I commented.
“In their insightful book, Paying for the Party – How College Maintains Inequality, Elizabeth Armstrong and Laura Hamilton, show that a major reason why many students need outside counseling is not just the students’ background. It is also the fact that many colleges – like the state flagship college that they study – care much more about providing access to fun to attract higher paying students. In the case they describe, in state students don’t get much guidance, while out of state students get a lot of help having fun.”
There is more on the book in my reading list.
