Business School, Disrupted – NYTimes.com.
I found the above article interesting.
I commented:
“Worrisome.
This article portrays HBS strugging with what should be a decision about EDUCATIONAL POLICY, as being solely a decision about BUSINESS strategy. Robert Maynard Hutcins warned about such an approach.
“…when an institution determines to do something in order to get money it must lose its soul … and if often doen’s get the money. I do not mean, of course, that universities do not need money and that they should not try to get it. I mean only that they should have an educational policy and then try to finance it, instead of letting financial accidents determine their educational policy….”
From my experience as an educator, I get the impression that the approach of Prof. Porter and the Dean is to use new technology to further HBS educational mission. It sounds like they are heeding Pres. Hutchins words. I’m not so sure Prof. Christensen is.”
This article is about on-line education, which is basically garbage. But it’s accepted and cheap so, hey, who cares ?
