Notre Dame Is Rocked by Charges of Academic Cheating – NYTimes.com.
I put my view in a comment:
Critics are only partly right when they
“…contend that [college sports officials] are unable to run sports as a big business while maintaining academic integrity…” (from the article, 5th paragraph down)
The reality is that colleges, period, can’t be run “…as a big business while maintaining academic integrity…”
Sports is only the tip of the iceberg. There are law schools scams; there are research frauds; there is grade inflation and content deflation (to satisfy customer “wants”, while deceiving them that their educational “needs” are being met.)
We don’t just have an integrity problem, per se; we have an education problem. And it is overwhelming our society as a whole.
These problems start from the top, not the bottom.
